Safe Pass

The Safe Pass course, is governed by a code of conduct for both ATO’s and tutors, tutors have the right to refuse entry or to remove all persons that are not compliant with the Solas Safe Pass rules, refunds are not given.

The wearing of masks for all safe pass participants is advised by Solas.

Course Content

The training modules incorporated within the one-day Safe Pass Programme are:

• Duties and Responsibilities at Work
• Accident Reporting and Prevention
• Working at Heights
• Excavations and Confined Spaces
• Working with Electricity Underground and Overhead Services
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Use of Hand Held Equipment, Tools and Machinery
• Safe Use of Vehicles
• Noise and Vibration
• Behavioural Safety
• Health and Hygiene

Under SI 291 of the 2013 Safety Health and Welfare Construction Regulation, Section 25, Schedule 4: Safe pass training courses are renewable every 4 years

Duration: 1 Day

Training Times and Dates: 08:00 am – 5.15 pm – all courses will be held in our training centre at Harbourville house Marsh Rd Drogheda Co Meath or the Boyne Valley Hotel Drogheda.

Assessment: 20 question, tick box Examination.

Certification: On successful completion the candidates will be awarded a SOLAS Safe Pass card.

Safe Pass Course requirements:

One Passport Photograph, Over 16 years of age, PPS Number and form of ID (passport, drivers licence or public services card). Note late arrivals will not be allowed to sit safe pass and will also be liable for the cost, refunds are not issued for no shows or late arrivals. If a person does not have their PPS number or 1 x current passport size photo on the day of the course then their applications will not be processed.All candidates must be aged over 16 have a PPS number.
All our courses are delivered in ENGLISH and candidates must have FLUENT ENGLISH.
(Please phone us if you struggle with English as you may be refused on the course).In line with the Solas code of conduct for ATO’s and Tutors all candidates must have have a good knowledge of the English language to take part in the course, this is a serious requirement for the future health and safety of the candidate on construction sites, the safe pass courses can be taken in many languages with the aid of an interpreter, call Solas for assistance on translated courses. Also call Solas if you have any issues with above requirements.
This is a SOLAS requirement. The tutor has the right to cancel the course at short notice, either due to lack of numbers or venue / candidates do not conform with Solas requirements. Refunds are not made to persons that do not turn up/ or are late for a booked course, cancellations can only be made 48 hours in advance – other terms apply.***
Noel Kelly will not be responsible for cards lost or missing in the post. If your name, PPS number or DOB do not match up on the Solas database then a card cannot be issued until the matter is rectified, it is the responsibility of all attending the course to provide the correct details required on the Solas Safe Pass application form.

Note:  We can provide a passport sized photograph, but only if a person forgets theirs on the day, the cost will be €5.00 per photograph.

Courses held in our training centre, entry is by electric gates, give the gates time to open before driving into our car park which is sign posted, do not park on the roadway opposite the gates as this can cause a blind spot. Reverse parking is mandatory. Access to our neighbours property Drogheda port company is not allowed as its private land, any queries should be directed to our managers. The course will sometimes be on in the Boyne Valley hotel, candidates will be notified of course location at the date of booking. Note, the safe pass course starts at 0800 sharp, refunds are not paid to late or no shows for the date agreed for the course, cancellations must be made a full 48 hours prior to the date agreed, no exceptions are made.
